The Native House of Ľudovít Štúr and Alexander Dubček

The Native House of Ľudovít Štúr and Alexander DubčekUhrovec lies among the mountains in the north-east part of "Nitran Hill-country". Even in 1295, Uhrovec was a part of the castle estate that owned nineteen villages. The castle Uhrovec, whose ruins tower over the village Uhrovské Podhradie, was probably built in the first half of 13th century and with the domain had been the possession of Baša´s son, Peter. The first written reference of the castle comes from 1258.

Uhrovec, a picturesque hamlet under the hill Rokoš, became the birth-place of two prominent Slovak personalities, Ľudovít Štúr and Alexander Dubček. In 1965, the native house was promulgated as a national sight.
